About Me
I have always been drawn to ventures on the cutting edge so perhaps it's unsurprising I pursued scientific research early on. Over the course of my career I have carved a path that seeks to advance communication, business and learning. My immersion in science during my formative years has left me with a fundamental perspective rooted in the sciences and science as a way of thinking.
My post-secondary education started with a joint major in molecular biology & biochemistry and business administration (Bachelor of Science, Simon Fraser University). From there, I entered the research field of microbiology (Master of Science, University of British Columbia), with added hands-on experience working in a commercial biotech laboratory at the forefront of hematopoietic (blood) stem cell storage (Lifebank, Corp.)
While my studies focused on very finite pieces of life, essentially cells and single-celled organisms, my curiosity transcends the microscopic world. I find it quite natural to apply the questions of "how does this work?" and "why does this happen?" to the people and things all around us.
I am an unabashed extrovert who thrives while working with others. For those in my orbit, I am also a natural and enthusiastic "cheerleader" or "water boy" (take your pick of metaphors!) These traits have served me well through a diverse consulting and facilitation career. Over the past ten years my work has brought me in touch with over a dozen Indigenous groups (at times living with the community on reserve), groups of Asian women, groups of women, high school and university students, entrepreneurs and parents. I am always flattered when I receive invitations for speaking engagements and I have been privileged to speak with a wide range of groups (eg. science students, marketing students, prenatal classes).
When I'm not consulting, I don the hat of Administration and Logistics Manager with a prominent consulting firm in the entertainment industry.

When I'm not working, I'm parenting. If you're interested, I have a lot more to say about that over in my blog.

When I'm not working and not parenting, I'm almost definitely sleeping.
